When you’re in a relationship with a criminal, what comes first — the falling in love part or the committing a crime together part? It depends on the couple. Many couples fell in love with their partner once they discovered a mutual passion for destruction, heists, violence, and world domination.
Then there are those who don’t find out they’re in love with a criminal until years after the fact. When they do find out about their loved one’s illicit activities a choice has to be made, end the relationship or join the criminal enterprise. Those who stay often find out they’re a natural at being criminal too.
The beginning may vary, but the ending tends to be the same. The rare few get to retire with all their riches or go legit. Most end with one or both dead or imprisoned. The love between criminals may not last for very long, but their romances certainly burn bright.

Drusilla and Spike had been a couple long before coming to Sunnydale. Upon their arrival, the couple quickly set about kidnapping, torturing, and murdering humans and vampires alike in pursuit of their goals of accessing the Hellmouth and killing Buffy.
Omar & Brandon – The Wire
In season one, Omar and Brandon were in a happy relationship and robbed drugged dealers together. Unfortunately, their relationship met a tragic end after Brandon got murdered.
Cersei & Jaime – Game of Thrones
Before the end credits rolled on the first episode of Game of Thrones, we witnessed Cersei and Jaime committing treason and then tried to cover it up with the attempted murder of a child. Since then Cersei and Jaime have murdered, usurped, and warred their way into keeping the Iron Throne for themselves.
Skyler & Walter White – Breaking Bad
Skyler and Walt married long before he cooked meth. When Skyler found about Walt’s criminal activities she wanted nothing to do with them and demanded a divorce, but she found herself getting sucked into the drug trade and becoming Walt’s money launderer.
Overgirl & Dark Arrow – Arrowverse
It’s hard to say what horrified Kara more — finding out her Earth-X counterpart was a Nazi dictator or discovering said counterpart was married to Oliver’s Earth-X counterpart.
Reggie & Veronica – Riverdale
After Veronica and Archie broke up, it’s not hard to understand why she turned to Reggie for comfort. For most of season three, Reggie has been willing to do just about anything for her. Deeds he has committed to help Veronica out include smuggling alcohol, running unauthorized casino nights, and robbing his dad’s car dealership.
Madalena & Gareth – Galavant
At first, the queen who killed the king and the guy who was with the queen when she killed the king couldn’t see eye-to-eye on anything. Then Madalena and Gareth bonded over their mutual love of violence, and soon thereafter these two lovebirds were planning an unprovoked war on the kingdom of Hortensia.
Asher & Bonnie – How To Get Away With Murder
Asher and Bonnie were already broken up when he ran over ADA Sinclair. Even though their breakup was painful, it didn’t stop Bonnie from coming to Asher’s aid and doing everything in her power to cover up the crime.
Neal & Emma – Once Upon a Time
Emma met Neal when they were stealing the same yellow VW bug. Over the next two years, they fell in love and robbed convenience stores together. They planned on living happily ever after until Pinnochio convinced Neal to leave and let Emma take the fall for the theft of stolen watches so she could get back to fulfilling her destiny.
Lord Zedd & Rita Repulsa – Power Rangers
Zedd banished Rita for failing to conquer Earth, but she returned and hatched a plan to marry and overthrow Zedd. What started as a sham marriage transformed into true love and an agreement to work together to defeat the Power Rangers. Rita and Zedd never achieved their goal, but they sure destroyed a lot of abandoned warehouses.
Elizabeth & Phillip – The Americans
For these Soviet spies who eventually fell in love with each other while posing as a married American couple, blowing up a car is considered a quiet night.
Murphy & Emori – The 100
Shortly after meeting for the first time, Murphy and Emori bonded over being exiled from their respective peoples. Later Emori rescued Murphy from being stranded on an island with an increasingly unstable Jaha. Afterward, they entered into a romantic relationship and ran scams together.
